There are two key points in designing a drive-in Pallet Racking System:
First, how does forklift access to the goods?
1. Forklift into the middle of the pallet rail. In this case, the length of the fork-direction of pallet is more than 1.4 meters, which is not very difficult for the operator of the forklift. Need to pay attention to the deflection of pallets after being placed on the pallet rail.
2. Forklift into the bottom of pallet rail. In this case, the height of the first level pallet rail is 2.3 meters. Generally, counterbalance forklift and forereach forklift overhead rack height is below 2.2 meters, while the fork-direction of pallet is about 1.2 meters. This condition requires forklift workers operating at a higher level. In order to prevent the forklift hit the column, customers need to consider adding guard rail to the bottom.
Second, what is the position of pallet on the pallet rail?
Because access of the drive-in pallet racking is high-reach type, when forklift drivers place pallets, they cannot see exact position that the pallet placed on pallet rail. In most cased during operation, pallets move along the rail. So it is very likely that the pallets get too left or too right. Therefore, the distance between the two rails and the distance between two columns will be determined by this distance. After the practice proved that when this distance ≥ 40mm, the pallet is safe.
